Philanthropy is evolving in unprecedented ways with technology, impact investing and the sustainability movement promising to shape its future.
“Digital philanthropy takes centre stage,” said The Graph Group CEO Avi Philipson in a LinkedIn article predicting 11 trends in philanthropy this year.
“In our increasingly interconnected world, digital philanthropy is on the rise,” he said.
“The fusion of technology and altruism enables donors to contribute effortlessly, whether through crowdfunding platforms, blockchain-driven transparency, or virtual reality experiences that allow donors to witness the impact of their contributions firsthand,” he added.
He predicted that virtual reality will be used to cultivate empathy and awareness among donors. “By immersing themselves in the stories of beneficiaries, donors will gain a deeper understanding of the issues they are addressing, leading to more informed and compassionate giving,” Philipson said.
He added that data analytics will play an increasingly pivotal role in philanthropic decision-making, as well as in the measurement of the impact of their contributions.
