The Salvation Army Singapore started taking cryptocurrency donations in December 2024, joining the growing ranks of non-profits in the country that accept digital-currency giving.
Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com said in a statement issued in December that the Salvation Army had integrated Crypto.com’s payment platform into its online payment portal, enabling donors to make contributions in 250 cryptocurrencies to the Salvation Army Singapore, which receives the donations in Singaporean dollars.
“Being able to offer people more choice in how they donate is vital,” David Erickson, secretary for business administration at the Salvation Army, said in the statement. “We hope we will be able to inspire the crypto community, including the younger generation, to be extremely active and passionate about making a positive impact.”
The development resulted from a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Crypto.com and six six charities including the Salvation Army Singapore in December 2023 with a view to enable the organisations to accept donations in digital assets.
