The number of companies that lack ESG talent has reached a critical mass, a recent survey finds. Ninety-two percent of organisations in Singapore lack the necessary talent to meet their environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals, compared with 91% globally, according to the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024. Only 33% of all organisations surveyed globally said they were adding ESG responsibilities to existing roles in 2024, compared with 39% in 2022. No breakdown percentages were given for Singapore. Published in September, the survey polled 40,340 employers from 42 countries, including 525 in Singapore.  An indicator of labour market trends, the net employment outlook — calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers who anticipate reductions to staffing levels from those who plan to hire — stood at 25% for Q4 2024.
